what is it?
Dead Pull is a truly "functional" fitness contest. It will test both your brute lower body pull strength and your upper body pull strength. The contest will be in the traditional "death by" format and include dead lifts at a static weight determined by your division, and strict pull ups. That's right, strict pull ups as in NOT kipping pull ups. There is no exceptions to this and no scaled options for the pull ups.
how does it work?
On 3-2-1 GO, at the beginning of minute zero, you will simply perform 10 dead lifts at the weight determined by your division. You will then rest for the remainder of the minute. You will then have a 3-2-1 go to lead into the beginning of minute 1. At this time you will simply perform 1 strict pull up from a dead hang, and then rest for the remainder of the minute. At the beginning of minute 2, you will once again perform 10 dead lifts at the same weight, and as before....rest for the remainder of that minute. The weight for dead lifts will remain the same for each dead lift round. At the beginning of minute 3 you will perform 3 strict pull ups, each from a dead hang with no kipping, and then rest for the remainder of the minute. This pattern will continue with 10 dead lifts on each even minute and pull ups equal to the current minute on the odd minutes. For example, if you fast forward a bit to minute 10, you would do 10 deadlifts....rest....then at minute 11 you would do 11 strict pull ups from a dead hang with no kipping. You continue until such time that you no longer have enough time to perform the require number of strict pull ups within the given minute. Your score will be the total number of strict pull ups you perform until time finally runs out for you.
what are the divisions?
Men's Regular Division - Age 18-44 - Dead lift weight 185
Women's Regular Division - Age 18-44 - Dead Lift weight 165
Men's Masters Division - 45 and older - Dead Lift Weight 165
Women's Masters Division - 45 and older - Dead Lift Weight 145
What does it cost?
Nothing!! Well, that's not entirely true. This event benefits the SPCA Clinic in Titusville, so we only ask that you bring either a cash or material (dog/cat food, toys, beds etc) for the donation pile. We would love to have a U-Haul FULL of stuff to bring them at the end of the event!!
